quality control

SHKL has established a comprehensive testing system, with an in-house dedicated laboratory (100+ testing items) and invests hundreds of thousands of Yuan annually in authoritative third-party testing.

What tests will we conduct before production?

All raw materials will undergo rigorous testing in our laboratory before they can be used for production. So you can definitely have complete confidence in the quality of our products.

1. Thermal cycling

Test Materials: Solid wood, plywood, MDF, chipboard, edge band, faucet, shower head, angle valve.
Acceptance Criteria: No cracks, bulges, discoloration, wrinkling, or looseness. The angle valve must not be damaged or cracked. The sealing test must not result in water leakage.

2. Immersion Peeling & Water Resistance Test

Test Materials: Plywood, MDF, HDF, veneered panels, laminated wood panels, and other bonded wood-based materials.

Test Procedure: Completely immerse the specimen in water at 63°C for 3 hours, then transfer it to a 63°C hot-air drying oven for 3 hours, followed by visual inspection for delamination, peeling, cracking, swelling, or other bonding failures.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when no unacceptable delamination or structural damage is observed and the maximum continuous edge peeling remains below 25 mm, where the applicable standard specifies this limit.

3. Abrasion Resistance Test

Test Materials: Melamine panels, MDF, HDF, veneered panels, painted panels, and other decorative surfaces.

Test Procedure: The test specimen is secured on an abrasion tester and subjected to repeated rubbing under a specified load and abrasive wheel; the surface is inspected at the required number of cycles for wear-through, discoloration, gloss loss, or coating damage.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when the surface remains intact without unacceptable wear-through, peeling, blistering, or significant coating damage after reaching the specified number of abrasion cycles according to the applicable product standard.

4. Adhesion Peel Strength Test

Test Materials: Decorative films, PVC/PP films, wood veneer, laminates, edge-banding materials, and other bonded surface materials.

Test Procedure: A specified section of the bonded material is securely attached to the peel-strength tester and pulled at a controlled speed and angle until separation occurs; the required peel force is continuously measured and recorded.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when the measured peel strength meets or exceeds the minimum value specified by the applicable material, product, or customer standard, with no unacceptable adhesive failure or premature delamination.

5. Scratch Resistance Tester

Test Materials: Melamine panels, MDF, HDF, wood veneer, painted panels, laminates, and other decorative surfaces.

Test Procedure: The specimen is secured on a scratch tester, and a standardized scratching stylus is applied under a specified load and drawn across the surface; the surface is then inspected for visible scratches, coating damage, or breakthrough.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when no unacceptable or clearly visible surface damage occurs at the specified test load, in accordance with the applicable product or customer standard.

6. Bursting Strength Test

Test Materials: Corrugated cardboard, carton boxes, and other packaging materials.

Test Procedure: A representative section of the carton or corrugated board is securely clamped in the bursting strength tester, and hydraulic pressure is gradually applied until the material ruptures; the maximum bursting pressure is recorded.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when the measured bursting strength meets or exceeds the minimum value specified for the carton grade, packaging specification, or customer requirement.

7. Package Drop Test

Test Materials: Fully packaged bathroom vanities and other finished products, including the product, carton, protective foam, and internal packaging components.

Test Procedure: The fully packed product is weighed to determine the required drop height according to the applicable standard (such as ISTA 1A or ASTM D5276), then placed on a Double-Arm Drop Tester and subjected to controlled free-fall drops onto a rigid impact surface at the specified height, typically covering designated corners, edges, and faces.

Typical ISTA 1A Parameters: For packages up to 68 kg (150 lb), the drop height varies according to gross package weight, ranging from approximately 760 mm (30 in) for lighter packages to 200 mm (8 in) for packages weighing 46–68 kg. The exact height, number of drops, and drop sequence are determined by the applicable test standard or customer specification.

Acceptance Criteria: The package must maintain sufficient structural integrity after testing, with no unacceptable carton rupture, opening, loss of protective function, or product damage; the final pass/fail criteria are established according to the applicable standard, product requirements, and customer-defined damage tolerance.

Gross Package Weight Drop Height
1–20 lb (≤9 kg) 30 in (760 mm)
21–40 lb (10–18 kg) 24 in (610 mm)
41–60 lb (19–27 kg) 18 in (460 mm)
61–90 lb (28–41 kg) approximately 13 in (340 mm)
91–100 lb (42–45 kg) 12 in (310 mm)*
101–150 lb (46–68 kg) 8 in (200 mm)

8. Flexural Strength Test

Test Materials: Plywood, MDF, particleboard, HDF, blockboard, OSB, and other wood-based panels.

Test Procedure: The specimen is placed horizontally on two supporting rollers, and a controlled load is gradually applied at the center until the specimen reaches failure; the maximum load and deflection are recorded to determine the Modulus of Rupture (MOR) and Modulus of Elasticity (MOE).

Acceptance Criteria: The measured bending strength must meet or exceed the minimum value specified by the applicable standard, such as EN 310, GB/T 17657, or ASTM D1037, with no unacceptable structural failure before the specified load requirement is reached.

10. Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) Test

Test Materials: Metal hardware, stainless steel components, plated components, aluminum parts, painted/coated metal surfaces, and other corrosion-protected metal components used in bathroom products.

Test Procedure: Test specimens are placed in a controlled salt-spray chamber and continuously exposed to a neutral salt fog for a specified period according to the applicable standard or customer requirement, such as ISO 9227 or ASTM B117; after exposure, the specimens are cleaned and inspected for corrosion, rust, blistering, peeling, and coating damage.

Acceptance Criteria: The specimen passes when corrosion and coating defects remain within the specified limits, with no unacceptable red rust, blistering, peeling, or significant coating failure after the required exposure period; the exact exposure time and acceptance criteria are determined by the applicable product specification or customer requirement.

★9. Dielectric Strength (Hi-Pot) Test, Electrical Safety – Dielectric Strength Test

Test Materials: LED mirrors, illuminated bathroom products, electrical components, power supplies, wiring assemblies, and other products containing electrical systems.

Test Procedure: The Hi-Pot tester is first verified at 3,750 V for 5 seconds with a 5 mA current limit. For product testing, the voltage is set to 3,000 V, with the test leads connected to the product's Live (L) and Neutral (N) power wires, while the high-voltage probe is applied to accessible metal screws on the rear of the product.

Acceptance Criteria: The product passes when it withstands the specified test voltage for the required duration without dielectric breakdown, flashover, arcing, or abnormal tester alarm. Any breakdown or unacceptable leakage current results in a failure.

SHKL Test Parameters: 3,000 V | 5 seconds | Current Limit: 5 mA
